Longkaikou town
Longkaikou town is located in the southeast of Heqing County, on the West Bank of Jinsha. It covers an area of 297.7 square kilometers and has a population of 25646 (2017). It governs 15 administrative villages including Duomei, shanghechuan, xiahechuan, refinery, Qingbei, luoliang, Houshan, Zhongjiang, Jinhe, Jiangdong, Daqing, Hefeng, hemi, Longdan and Longkaikou. Township government in Duomei street, 69 kilometers away from the county. It belongs to dry hot valley area. There are Jiangqi boats at the Duomei ferry of Jinsha River. There are sulfur hot springs in zhaizipo.
Historical evolution
In the Qing Dynasty, Duomei was the Eastern District of the county, called Duomei 12a. At the beginning of the Republic of China, it was still in the eastern district. In 1934, Duomei town and Hechuan Township were established as the Fourth District of the county. In 1940, Meizhong town was established. In 1944, it was still called a Sino American town. In 1947, it was called Pingmei township. In the early days of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the fourth district (Songgui). Duomei township was established in 1957, and the fighting commune was established in 1958. In 1960, it was divided into Duomei and Houshan communes. In 1961, it was merged into Duomei district. It was changed into Duomei commune in 1970. In April 1984, it was also renamed district. In 1988, the district was withdrawn and renamed township. Seven townships were changed into seven village offices. In 1997, it covers an area of 186.6 square kilometers and has a population of 14000. It has jurisdiction over 7 administrative villages including Duomei, shanghechuan, xiahechuan, refinery, Qingbei and luolanghoushan. The township government is located in Duomei street. In 2005, Zhongjiang township was abolished and merged into Duomei township; in March 2006, the former Zhongjiang township was established as Zhongjiang Office of Duomei township. In 2009, Duomei township was abolished and lilongkaikou town was established. In July, Longkaikou town was officially established.
