Menghai town is subordinate to Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It was reorganized from Xiangshan town and Menghai Township in 2002. Located in the middle of Menghai County, it has 8 village committees and 5 community residents committees, including Xiangshan, Yanhe, foshuang, Xianghe and Jingnan. It has 93 villagers' groups and 26 community residents' groups.

In September 2020, it was awarded the title of "model collective of national unity and progress in Yunnan Province".
