Menghai town is subordinate to Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It was reorganized from Xiangshan town and Menghai Township in 2002. Located in the middle of Menghai County, it has 8 village committees and 5 community residents committees, including Xiangshan, Yanhe, foshuang, Xianghe and Jingnan. It has 93 villagers' groups and 26 community residents' groups.

The climate is located in the south of Tropic of cancer, belonging to tropical and subtropical southwest monsoon climate, with the climate characteristics of "no severe cold in winter, no severe heat in summer, sufficient heat, abundant rainfall, clear dry and wet". It is hot and humid in summer and autumn, warm and dry in winter and spring. In 2012, the annual average temperature was 20 ℃, and the annual rainfall was 1140 mm.
National Highway 214 (fo Shuang highway) and Menghai meng'a highway pass through the town, and there is a highway network leading to various towns. Mannong Nature Reserve has rare plantations such as Cephalotaxus fortunei, Dalbergia amurensis, Acer altingi, etc. There are dozens of Buddhist temples and ancient buildings, and the Jingfo pagoda is majestic and magnificent. "Tagang South (water tower)" was built in 1455. It is said that the river once flowed around the pagoda.
