The township covers an area of 264.53 square kilometers, with six ethnic groups of Han, Yi, Hani, Bai, Dai and Miao living in the area, with a population density of 17 people per square kilometer. The whole township is high in the north and low in the south, with steep mountains and crisscross valleys. The highest altitude is 2540 meters and the lowest altitude is 800 meters. It is surrounded by one river (maopuzi River) and one river (Malong River), with a forest coverage rate of 92%. It is one of the towns with the best vegetation in the county.
