Biji Street

Biji street is located in the middle of Xishan District, 15 kilometers away from the city center. Dianchi Lake in the East, Anning City in the west, Haikou street in the south, Tuanjie street and Majie street in the north. It covers an area of 88.74 square kilometers and has a population of 35705 (2010). The highest altitude is 2551 meters, and the lowest altitude is 1885 meters (on the surface of Dianchi Lake). Chengdu Kunming railway, 320 National Highway and Gaohai highway pass through. There are Xishan Forest Park, Xu Xiake Memorial Hall and Sheng'an temple.

It is said that there used to be a wild peacock here, which was unknown to the local aborigines. It was called Biji, and Biji town got its name from it. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was gaoqili in Kunming county. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Gaoyi fort, Xihua fort and Changpo fort. In the Republic of China, it was Xibi township. In 1950, it belonged to the Sixth District of Kunming county. In 1954, it was part of the Ninth District of Kunming city. In 1956, it belonged to Xishan District. In 1958, it was the Biji and Xihua administrative areas of Dongfeng commune. Biji commune was established in 1962. In February 1984, it was renamed Biji office. Biji town was rebuilt in 1988. In 1997, it covers an area of 88.6 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. It governs eight administrative villages, namely Biji, Longmen, Fushan, Xihua, Guanyinshan, maomaoqing, heiqiaomu and Changpo. In 2006, it has jurisdiction over eight administrative villages including Biji, Guanyinshan, Xihua, Longmen, Fushan, Changpo, maomaoqing and heiqiaomu, and the town government is stationed in Gaoyi. In July 2009, the town was removed and the streets were set up.
