Pudi township of Yi, Miao and Bai NATIONALITIES (Pudi township for short) is located in the north of Baili Azalea. There are 17 villages and 85 villager groups in Pudi Township, with a total area of 103.58 square kilometers and a population of more than 17000. Ethnic minorities account for 76.4% of the total population of Pudi township. Most villages in the township have realized the connection of optical fiber broadband and tap water. The climate here is mild all the year round. On the surface, there are national virgin forest nature reserve, Baili Rhododendron and fangjiaping animal husbandry grassland, and hang Rui highway passes through the area.

Historical evolution

Name and origin

Pudi, formerly known as pukengdi, means Bazi where Gelao people sing and dance. Later it was renamed Pudi.

Evolution of administrative districts

In 1950, it belonged to nine districts.

In April 1953, Pudi township was established.

In September 1958, Pudi township was transformed into a commune; in November, it was transformed into a management area.

In March 1963, it was restored to Pudi commune.

In 1984, Pudi commune was transformed into a township of Yi and Miao Nationalities.

In December 1991, Pudi Yi Miao Bai township was established by merging the former Pudi Yi Miao Township and Pengcheng Yi Miao township.
