Zongdi town is located in the southeast of Ziyun Autonomous County, 45 kilometers away from the county. It borders Changshun County in the East, Luodian County in the south, Daying Town and Houchang town in the west, Shuitang town in the north, and ziluo highway passes through. It is the main traffic hub leading to the North and south. Zongdi Town, with a total area of 318.5 square kilometers, is a Miao minority town with typical karst landform. It has 17 administrative villages, 217 villager groups, 6373 households and 34160 people. It mainly produces grain crops such as corn and cash crops such as flue-cured tobacco, Purple Garlic and walnut. In terms of breeding industry, Liuhua pig and black goat are mainly cultivated in the land, and mineral resources are scarce in the territory. Ziluo highway runs through seven administrative villages in the town.

Historical evolution

Zongdi town is located in Ziyun Autonomous County. In 2015, the request for instructions on the adjustment of township level administrative divisions in Ziyun Autonomous County (AFC [2015] No. 10) was received. It is agreed to abolish the organizational system of Daying Township and Zongdi Township, and set up Daying Town and Zongdi town respectively. After the township is removed, the administrative region and government residence will remain unchanged.

The town is located in the hinterland of Mashan mountain area in Central Guizhou Province. It is a typical karst landform with broken terrain and over 80% rock area. The ecological environment is extremely poor. There are 17 administrative villages, 217 villager groups, 6373 households and 34160 people under the jurisdiction of the town. There are 7 first class poor villages, 5 second class poor villages and 5 general villages. Miao, Han, Buyi and other nationalities live in the area, of which the Miao nationality accounts for 83.66% of the total population. The average altitude of the town is 1040 meters, the annual sunshine time is 1455.3 hours, the frost free period is 286 days, the annual rainfall is 1337 mm, and the annual average temperature is 15.4 ℃. It mainly produces grain crops such as corn and cash crops such as flue-cured tobacco, Purple Garlic and walnut.
