Jiukou township is located in the southwest of the county. It borders Ziwei and Erqi in the East, luooyigan in the south, wunenggu (layimu) in Zhaojue County in the West and Erku in the north.

Hemu highway passes through the western part of the rural area. The township was initially established in jiukou village, so it was named Jiukou township. The rural area is located in the gentle slope of the second half of the mountain, with a high altitude of 2568m in the East and 1436m in the West. The total area is 35.27 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 villages, 41 groups, 882 households and 3627 people. There are 3558 Yi people and 69 Han people. The population density is 102.84 per square kilometer. He built a township in January 1956 and was stationed in jiukou village. In October 1958, the Township People's Committee was established. In December of the next year, the township government moved to Jiagu. In March 1960, the commune was established, known as Merrill Lynch commune. In 1961, the township system was restored. On July 9, 1968, the Township Reform Committee was established and the commune was rebuilt on February 16, 1972. On July 12, 1981, the commune reform committee was changed into the management committee. In July 1984, the township system was restored and the township government was established.
