Yantang Township

Yantang township is under the jurisdiction of Yanyuan County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It covers an area of 214.4 square kilometers.

On June 12, 2020, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Yantang Township and establish Yantang town.

Spicy township was established in 1952, changed to commune in 1972, and restored to township in 1984. It was renamed Yantang Township in 1994. Yantang township is located in the southwest of the county, bordering Yunnan Province, 43 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 214.4 square kilometers and has a population of 8035 (2017). Yanyuan Zuozuo highway runs through the countryside. It has jurisdiction over seven village committees: BaWO, lazigou, dilaijiao, zhengjiatian, Zhuangzi, Donggualin and Hualong. Yantang Township mainly produces potato, corn, soybean, wheat and rice. Animal husbandry is dominated by horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and birds. The rock salt reserve of heiyantang is huge and its exploitation history is long. Yantang town is the hometown of Dai Fayun
