Zhanwa Township

Zhanwa township is a township under the jurisdiction of Ruoergai County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is located in the northernmost part of Ruoergai County, in the mountain gorge zone at the junction of Sichuan and Gansu provinces, 140 km away from the county seat.

The township has an average altitude of 3020 meters, an average annual temperature of 2 ℃, an annual rainfall of 500 mm, a frost free period of 40-60 days, an area of 188.63 square kilometers, three administrative villages, 11 natural villages, a forest area of 127000 mu, and a grassland area of 112000 mu. It is a typical semi agricultural and semi pastoral area, mainly planting highland barley, Hu Dou, potato, Yuangen and other crops, and Chinese herbal medicines such as Cordyceps, Fritillaria and rhubarb They are wild animals, such as sika deer, red pheasant, Marmota, etc.; local products, such as Tibetan pork, mushrooms, fungus, etc.

Zhanwa township is a semi agricultural and semi pastoral township. Its main agricultural products are highland barley and wheat. Its animal husbandry is mainly alpine pasture grazing, and its main livestock are Tibetan pigs and yaks. Among them, Tibetan pork is the most characteristic and well-known. there are many kinds of wild animals and plants in the area, which are an important part of Tiebu Sika Deer reserve. There are marmot, argali, pheasant, wolf, pheasant and other rare protected animals. The rare plants are Morchella, Pteridium, wild fungus and so on. In addition, zhanwa is also rich in precious Cordyceps sinensis, Fritillaria, and other medicinal materials.

The landscape is particularly magnificent, and there are natural stalactite caves (about 80m in depth), which are natural geoparks. there are two temples in zhanwa Township, one is called Longtu temple, which is located near Ta'er Zhaizi, and the other is called sendu temple, which is located in upper part of zhanwa township (ma'er Zhaizi). The two temples have a long history and culture, and many monks, which play an important role in the development of local culture.
