Kongshan town is located in the north of the county, 106 kilometers away from the county government. It covers an area of 134 square kilometers and has a population of 6000. It has jurisdiction over eight village committees, namely Longchi, Zhongba, Houba, Yuanshan, Wufu, Fenghuang, Qinglong and Qixing. Township enterprises have processing and brewing plants. Agriculture mainly produces corn and wheat. There are two state-owned forest farms in the territory, including Gastrodia elata, Cephalotaxus and other precious Chinese medicinal materials. There are deer, Golden Chicken, baby chicken, bamboo mouse (bamboo chicken), painted chicken and other rare animals.

Kongshan Town, Tongjiang County, Sichuan Province, is a town established by withdrawing the township. With the approval of the people's Government of Sichuan Province, Tongjiang County abolished Kongshan Township and established Kongshan Town, with the former administrative region of Kongshan township as the administrative region of Kongshan town. Tongjiang County governs the township. Kongshan township was established in 1952, changed into a commune in 1958, and resumed in 1984.
