Xinmin Tibetan and Yi nationality township is located in the northwest of Shimian County, Sichuan Province. It is a minority township where Tibetan, Yi and Han nationalities live together.

geographical position

Xinmin Tibetan and Yi nationality township is located in the northwest of Shimian County, Sichuan Province, along the Dadu River. It starts from Dadu River in the East and adjoins Diaojiao Township across the river, reaches lihaizi in the west, maoniushan and Xianfeng Township in the south, and Wangang and Tianwan in the north. It covers an area of 123 square kilometers, with the lowest altitude of 920 meters and the highest altitude of 3070 meters. The township government is located in Hai'er village, 25 kilometers away from the county seat, with a cultivated area of 9834 mu, 9 administrative villages and 50 villager groups.

There are 8274 people in 2594 households, including 4274 men, 4000 women and 2900 people in more than 500 ethnic households, accounting for 35% of the total population of Xinmin.
