On December 18, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Dazhou city to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in five counties (districts), including Tongchuan District (cfzm [2019] No. 21): Xianglong Township, Yanhe Township, Yongjin Township, luoche Township and Daorang Township were abolished, and the administrative areas of Xianglong Township, Yanhe Township, Yongjin Township, luoche Township and Daorang Township were put under the jurisdiction of Shiqiao Town, The people's Government of Shiqiao Town is located at 148 Yuanding street.

Xianglong township is located in the west of Dachuan District, Dazhou City, 82 kilometers away from Dazhou city. It is adjacent to Xinjin (now Shiqiao Town) in the East, Yanhe in the south, Fulou town in Pingchang County across the river in the west, Hongzhuan in Tuya township of Pingchang county and Huilong in Dachuan District in the north. It is one of the remote mountain towns in the whole district. It covers an area of 25.2 square kilometers with an average altitude of 850 meters. The township governs 6 administrative villages, 1 community and 61 communities, with 4150 people (2017).
