Hu'an town is located in the southeast of the central city of Guang'an. It is adjacent to Guantang town in the East and Kuige sub district office in the West. It is bounded by Qujiang River in the north and south, and faces Guansheng Town, Xiexing town and Dalong township of Guang'an District across the river. Quhe River encircles Hu'an township. Guangqian Avenue passes through the place where the town government offices are located. The water and land transportation is very convenient. The government is about 7 kilometers away from the District People's government, covering an area of 28.44 square kilometers. It governs 1 community, 23 administrative villages, 154 villager groups, 6782 households and 22622 people.

Hu'an area belongs to Pingba shallow hilly area, the terrain inclines from east to west, with an altitude of 361 meters and 18777 mu of cultivated land. The land is fertile, mainly producing rice, wheat, corn, red bitter, economic crops are rape, tobacco, pepper, fruits, vegetables, sericulture, aquatic products and so on. There are 237 township enterprises and private enterprises, including Guang'an Jianguo Automobile Industrial Park, Guang'an Yimu company, construction company, sand brick factory, shale brick factory, distillery, firecracker factory, Prefabrication Yard, pig farm and chicken farm, with an output value of 49.13 million yuan. 4.25 million yuan in profits and taxes. At the same time, there is also a 110kV transmission substation, which creates good development conditions for Hu'an. In 2010, the per capita net income of the town was 1820 yuan.

For a long time, the young and middle-aged labor force of Hu'an have been going out to work, which leads to the waste of some fields. To this end, the town combined with the actual situation, actively introduce owners, began to cultivate high value-added seedlings. After years of development, it has formed a 260 Mu landscape seedling base mainly composed of Magnolia grandiflora, Osmanthus fragrans and Prunus hongyeensis. Nursery economy has become the characteristic industry of Hu'an town. It not only beautifies the ecological environment, but also becomes the main way to increase the income of local surplus labor force. In the slack season, the villagers go to the base to work and become seasonal industrial workers, which further improves the villagers' income. In combination with the policy of returning farmland to forest, the idle land along the Qujiang River was used to guide the villagers to plant 700 mu of Eucalyptus grandis. The owner also signed an agreement with the villagers to recover all Eucalyptus grandis wood. In this way, the abandoned land can be used efficiently and the income of villagers can be increased.

In 2010, the town introduced 7 tourism projects with an investment of 20 million yuan, of which the investment of huxiaocheng International Resort and dishuixi resort under construction reached 500 million yuan and 200 million yuan respectively. In addition, there is Guang'an Auto Expo City, the largest auto 4S store cluster area in Guang'an City with an investment of 250 million yuan and an area of 237 mu (19 4S stores in two parks of Guang'an Auto Expo City, with a total turnover of 647 million yuan in 2014).
