Mawang Township

Old town name. See Baerhu town for details. The former Mawang township is located at the junction of Nanbu County, Xichong County and Shunqing District, which is the southwest border of Nanbu county. It is 37.5km away from the county seat and 390m above sea level. The landform is dominated by shallow hills, sandy soil and red soil; the climate is subtropical monsoon humid climate, with obvious changes in four seasons.

In October 2019, Mawang township will be abolished and its administrative area will be put under the jurisdiction of Baerhu town. The people's Government of Baerhu town is located at 51 Changlong street.

The fruit is famous for its crisp sweet pomelo, which is the "national quality" fruit of Mawang Township, and its cultural characteristics are famous for "Mawang shadow puppet". In July of the fourteenth year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, the statue of master cave carved in Moyan of Guanyin Mountain is a fusion of Ru, fo and Dao cultures. It is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchong City and Nanbu County, and is close to the origin of the shadow puppet class of King Ma.

Crisp sweet pomelo is named for its sweet taste, moderate water content and delicious taste. The growth cycle from planting to fruiting is 6-9 years. There are 20-40 fruits per plant, each weighing about 2.5-3.7 Jin. The maximum yield per plant can reach 148 Jin. The fruit has won the National Gold Award for high quality fruit for five times and the international gold and silver awards for two times. It is the local characteristic economy of Mawang and one of the fruit tree varieties that adapt to the deep and fertile soil of Mawang township.

Mawang shadow puppet originated in Guanyinshan village, Mawang township. It was founded in Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 350 years. From the founder he Yinggui to he Zhengtong, it has been handed down for seven generations. The figure modeling of Mawang shadow puppet has absorbed the characteristics of facial makeup, paper-cut art and Weinan lantern shadow. The characters have distinctive personality, rich and colorful forms of expression, fine carving, vivid figure modeling, clear and smooth lines, bright and coordinated colors, and complete and unified composition.

Mawang shadow play performance art, one person performs 11 kinds of musical instruments, two people control all the characters. In the performance, the thoughts and feelings of different characters and roles can be performed incisively and vividly through the screen. All kinds of scenes are vivid, and all kinds of musical instruments and music are in harmony, making people feel like they are on the scene. The best plays such as "borrow wife", "Jiujiang River", "Mu Guiying in command", "Yuanmen chopper" are amazing.
