Wuquan town

Wuquan is located in the mountainous area in the north east of the county. It faces Dade Township and Qiaoba and Pinghe township of Nanjiang County across the river in the East, Jinxi town in the south, Sanjiang Town in the west, Daliang Township in the west, Dahe and Wanshan Township in the north. Covering an area of 96.84 square kilometers, it is a high mountain and gorge terrain with an average altitude of more than 1200 meters. The town has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. The annual average temperature is 14 ℃, the annual rainfall is 670 mm, and the frost free period is 240 days. The total population is 14653 (2017).

On May 7, 2020, the people's Government of Sichuan Province approved Guangyuan City to adjust the administrative divisions of some villages and towns in Cangxi County and other three counties (cfzm [2020] No. 1): the administrative area of Guihua Village in Dahe township was put under the jurisdiction of Wuquan Town, and the people's government of Wuquan town was stationed at No. 29 Xuefu street, wulangmiaoshe district.

Historical evolution

Wuquan town is located in the northeast of Wangcang County, 57 kilometers away from the county. It worships the statue of Wuxian Huaguang, so it is called Wulang temple. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, local people prospered the city in front of the temple, taking the name of the temple as the name of the market. There is a natural stone bell hanging on the side of the temple. There was a fort in Ming and Qing Dynasties, named Zhongling. In 1935, Guangyuan set up four administrative regions, and Wulang belonged to the third region. In 1936, the district office moved in from Yingcui. After the establishment of Wangcang in 1942, Wuquan town was established (originally meant as the five power constitution of Dr. Sun Yat Sen). In 1950, the third district of Wangcang was established. In 1962, seven communes (Wuquan, Jinxi, Dade, nanmu, Dahe, Wanshan, Shuimo) were established. In 1992, the district was withdrawn to build Wuquan Town, which governed the original Wuquan Township and nanmu township.
