Shuanglong township was established in 1951, Shuanglong commune was changed in 1958, Zonghai commune was renamed in 1981, Zonghai township was established in 1984, revoked in 1992 and restored in 1995. Located in the southeast of the county, 34 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 17.1 square kilometers and has a population of 2702. There are roads to the county. It has jurisdiction over eight village committees, namely Xishan, Yujing, Wuyun, Yangxi, Dali, Laofang, Hongling and Wulong. Agricultural production of rice, wheat, corn, sweet potato, and pigs, silkworms, poultry. In December 2019, Mianyang Municipal People's government decided to abolish Zonghai township.

Evolution of organizational system
According to Yanting County annals, Zonghai was under the jurisdiction of Leping Township in Yanting County in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. In the early years of the Republic of China, zonghaixingchang was named Daheba, which means "all rivers lead to the sea". in the 25th year of the Republic of China, Jinkong Lianbao was established, which belonged to the sea. In the 29th year of the Republic of China, the "new county system" was adopted, and Jinkong township was established, which was still under Zonghai. In 1951, the land reform was completed and the democratic government was established. Part of the land was set aside from Jinkong township to build Shuanglong township. In 1958, during the period of people's communization, Shuanglong people's commune was established. in 1981, the place name was renamed Zonghai commune. In 1984, the establishment of the commune was abolished and Zonghai township was restored, belonging to Jinkong district. In 1992, the district was withdrawn and the township was built. Zonghai was merged into Jinkong town. In 1995, Zonghai was designated as Zonghai township. in 2019, Zonghai township was abolished and merged into Jinkong town.
