Tongyuanju Street

Tongyuanju street, belonging to Nan'an District of Chongqing, is located in the northwest of Nan'an District. It is adjacent to huayuanlu street in the East, Southeast and south, the Yangtze River in the West and North, and Nanping Street in the East and northeast. It is 3.4km away from the residence of Nan'an District People's Government, with a total area of 3.7km2.

In 1905, Tongyuan Bureau was set up in the neighborhood of Tongyuan Bureau. In September 1972, it was changed from Hongqi Street to Tongyuan Bureau Street. At the end of 2011, the total population of tongyuanju street was 83000. As of June 2020, tongyuanju street has jurisdiction over 10 communities, and its sub district office is located at No. 26 Fenglin Road, yunmanting community.

History of construction

In 1905, Tongyuan Bureau was established.

In February 1935, Tongyuan Bureau was established. In June 1939, it was changed to Tongyuan Bureau town.

After 1949, Tongyuan town was abolished.

In October 1954, Tongyuan Bureau factory street was established.

In September 1958, it was changed into Tongyuan Bureau town.

In July 1962, it was changed into tongyuanju street.

In December 1968, it was renamed Hongqi Street.

In September 1972, it was changed from Hongqi Street to tongyuanju street.

In 1905, Xi Liang, governor of Sichuan Province, appropriated 2 million taels of silver from Sichuan Han railway company to purchase machinery, set up a bureau in sujiaba, and cast copper yuan (currency), hence the name of Tongyuan Bureau Street.
