Puning overseas Chinese Management Zone

Puqiao District of Puning City is located in the west of Chaoshan Plain in eastern Guangdong Province, 20 kilometers away from Puning City. Founded in 1961, it has accepted and resettled returned overseas Chinese from 13 countries and regions including Indonesia and Vietnam. The region covers an area of 15.63 square kilometers, with a total population of 28000. There are more than 3400 returned overseas Chinese and their family members. In August 1995, with the approval of Puning municipal Party committee and municipal government, Puning overseas Chinese farm was restructured to establish Puning overseas Chinese management area (hereinafter referred to as puqiao area), giving administrative and economic management authority to some counties. In June 2009, with the approval of Puning City, the brand of Puning puqiao Industrial Zone (Municipal Industrial Zone) was added. In July 2015, according to the development requirements of the system of leaving overseas Chinese farms, we conducted in-depth research and extensively solicited opinions, put forward the system reform plan of establishing Puhua town through the restructuring of Puning overseas Chinese farm, and reported it to the higher authorities.

On January 4, 2021, the people's Government of Puning City announced the establishment of puqiao town in Puning City (pufugong (2021) No. 1): the establishment of puqiao town in Puning City. The administrative area of puqiao town is under the jurisdiction of the neighborhood committee of Qiaoxin community and the five village committees of houliao, Beiche, Wuli, Xinxing and Chashan under the jurisdiction of the former Puning overseas Chinese farm, covering an area of 15.63 square kilometers. The people's Government of puqiao town is located at No.1 Qiaocheng Road (the former Office of Party and government organs of Puning overseas Chinese farm).

Historical evolution

Originally, Puning overseas Chinese farm was set up by the overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council in December 1961 to accommodate returned overseas Chinese from 13 countries and regions, such as Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. In August 1995, Puning municipal Party committee and municipal government restructured and established Puning overseas Chinese management area as a County (Department) level unit and a non organic area in accordance with the spirit of Guangdong provincial government document [1994] No. 131.

It is a gathering place of chaoke culture, with returned overseas Chinese and their family members from 13 countries and regions. Chaoshan has profound cultural heritage, unique folk customs and exotic customs. The vast number of overseas Chinese are good at singing and dancing, and blend with each other to form a unique overseas Chinese culture. The main local operas include Chaozhou Opera, Hakka folk songs, etc.; the dances include Indonesian dance, tea picking dance, bamboo shadow dance, etc.

The traffic and communication in puqiao district are convenient and fast. The Anchi highway (National Highway 238) runs through the East and West, and the Shinan highway runs through the north and south. The communication equipment in puqiao district has realized the program-controlled exchange and optical fiber transmission.

Regional customs

Puqiao district is located in the subtropical monsoon area, with mild climate, abundant rainfall and fertile land. It has 13290 mu of mountains with slope below 25 degrees, 3000 mu of famous tea gardens and 8000 mu of famous orchards. It is a good place for tea and fruit growth. The industrial park in puqiao district has begun to take shape. More than 80 enterprises of various types have been introduced and established in puqiao District, and four pillar industries of textile, food, polyester chemical industry and pharmaceutical industry have been initially formed. Puqiao district is rich in tourism resources, green water, tea and fruit fragrance, huaguyan scenic area, natural botanical garden and other attractions, is Jieyang ecological demonstration park.
