Mahekou Bai nationality township

Mahekou Bai nationality township is located in the northeast of Sangzhi County, Hunan Province, adjacent to guandiping town in the East, Linxihe Bai nationality township in the north, maidiping Bai nationality township in the South and furongqiao Bai nationality township in the West. Suoziqu village, the township government's residence, is 35 km away from the county.

After the founding of new China, it was subordinate to guandiping District, Cili County, Hunan Province. In 1958, it was assigned to Sangzhi County. In 1984, it was approved by the Hunan Provincial People's government to establish mahekou Bai township. When it was withdrawn from the district and merged with the township in 1995, it was called mahekou Bai Township together with Linxihe Township, furongqiao Township, maidiping Township and jinzang township. Furongqiao was set up in the township. In October 1998, the township was divided into mahekou Bai township.

The total area of the township is 133.97 square kilometers (2017), with 8899.9 mu of cultivated land, including 5254.6 mu of paddy field and 3645.3 mu of dry land. The township governs 16 administrative villages, 109 villager groups and 14620 people (2017), including mahekou, zhongzhuangping, cangjiatai, suoziqiu, wanzhongluo, gongjiajie, zishengqiao, wangjiatian, jiamuyu, wazhuangping, changmaping, liujiasi, Muxia, Shuangquan, yinzigang and Chachang.

Economics

Located in the northern part of Wuling mountain area, the township is hilly with rich resources. Its economy is dominated by agriculture. Its main specialties are rice, corn, rape, wheat, potato, beans, tobacco, tea, etc. its breeding industry mainly consists of pigs, cattle, sheep, chickens and ducks, and its aquaculture industry mainly consists of fish. Shuangquan reservoir, a medium-sized reservoir, is located in the territory. The forest in the territory is well protected, with more than 30 forests accumulated. Maya forest farm, with the largest area, has more than 5000 mu of forest land, and is rich in oleoresin, fungi and other products. in recent years, based on the advantages of resources, liquor making industry and oil pressing industry have sprung up, and agricultural, sideline, animal husbandry, fishery and processed products have sold well. The township is located at the throat of the main line sangguan highway (Sangzhi County ← → guandiping town), with roads, telephones and television in every village, and transportation vehicles in every village. the township has developed foreign affairs and has a long history with the Bai nationality in Dali, Yunnan.
