The origin of the name
Laodao River Street gets its name from Laodao River, an important tributary of Xiangjiang River. According to legend, during the period of the Three Kingdoms, Guan Yu fought in Changsha, and when he crossed the river by boat, his green dragon Yanyue sword fell into the river. Zhou Cang, his deputy general, knew the performance of Qinglong Yanyue Dao very well, so he fell into the water and ran against the water for seven miles at a time before catching it. It turns out that the Dragon belongs to the scale tribe, and the scale aquatic animals like to swim against the water. The green dragon inlaid on the sword is alive when it enters the water. Therefore, when the sword enters the water, the green dragon will naturally go upstream with the sword. From then on, where Guan Gong dropped the knife, he closed the mouth of the knife; the river that fished the knife was called Laodao river.
Evolution of organizational system
Laodaohe street was originally under the jurisdiction of Beishan District of Changsha County. In 1995, the districts in Changsha were withdrawn and merged into townships.
