Xiulin street was originally Xiulin town of Shishou County, which is the resident of the people's Government of Shishou county.

In 1986, Shishou City was set up as a city instead of a county. Xiulin town was divided into Xiulin street and Bijiashan street, and two suburban streets, namely Jinping street and Dongfang street, were established at the same time to form the urban area of Shishou City. Xiulin street is the residence of Shishou Municipal People's government.
