In 1958, it belonged to the happy commune. Dwarf district was established in 1961. In 1975, the district was withdrawn and merged into a dwarf commune. In 1984, Gnome commune was divided into Gnome Town, Henglong Township and Wugong township. In August 1992, Henglong Township and Wugong Township were abolished and merged into dwarf town. In 1996, it covers an area of 89.8 square kilometers and has a population of 52000. It governs 34 administrative villages including dongzishan, Junshan, Yangling, gnome, Tujin, Huangjin, gaodun, Guanling, kuangwan, zhafang, Tulong, Zhongwan, Zhongliu, Baisai, Daiwan, Hefeng, taidu, Yangwan, Shentang, gangzui, Hengshan, zhoumen, Baibao, Yumen, Laoguan, Maasai, tielu, tudong, Wugong, Shenghong, Xueshan, Jinji, Junying, Qianhu and 2 residential villages including gnome and Tanshan Committee. In June 2000, dwarf town was abolished and dwarf street was set up. In 2001, Chenggong Township and Hongbei Township were abolished and merged into Gnome Street (Hongbei Agricultural Demonstration Zone Management Committee was established in Hongbei township). In 2004, the office is located in Gnome mountain, with a population of 72611 and an area of 178.55 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over gnome, Tanshan and Xihe residents' committees, dongzishan, Junshan, Yangling, gnome, Tujin, Huangjin, gaodun, Guanling, kuangling, zhafang, Tulong, Zhongwan, Baisai, Daiwan, Hefeng, taidu, Yangwan, Shentang, gangzui, Hengshan, zhoumen, Baibao, Yumen, Laoguan, Maasai, taidu and other districts Tielu, tudong, Wugong, Shenghong, Xueshan, Jinji, barracks, Qianhu, xinwan, wanhu, Nanzui, Xigan, Donggan, Mogou, Laohe, shiyuhu, sanwutai, Qunfeng, Qunli, Guoguang, Xinbang, zhenningbao, wuxingkou, 400gong and Zhongliu. On August 19, 2014, the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau (No. 53, wucivil Affairs Bureau) approved to change the name of Gnome street to Gnome mountain street.
