History and culture

Doumen Township, 35 km south by east of Huaiyang District, on the North Bank of Shaying River. It is said that in the Northern Song Dynasty, there were two surnames Zhan and Luo living here, near shahebukou. Because of the large population of the Zhan surname, it was named zhankou (also known as zhankou). At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the surname Dou of Shanxi moved here to settle down. There were oil mills, granaries and freight yards, where the passengers were loading and unloading goods. Later, the surnames of Zhan and Luo gradually declined, and they were called doujiamen, or Doumen for short. in order to cooperate with the construction of Zheng He high-speed railway project, Zhoukou Municipal Institute of cultural relics and archaeology, entrusted by the Provincial Academy of cultural relics and archaeology, excavated an ancient site in Zhangji section of Doumen Township, Huaiyang, Zhoukou. The cultural connotation of the site is rich, the cultural layer is thick, about 1.2 meters, unearthed from the Han, Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties and other historical relics. Among them, one ancient coin cellar, seven ancient tombs, two accompanying burial pits, 19 ash pits and 15 stoves were excavated, and thousands of pottery pots, bowls, pots and other cultural relics were unearthed.
