During the Anti Japanese War, the Northeast was the Anti Japanese base area, and after liberation, it was divided into five districts. In 1963, the southern half of dingluan commune was set up, and Manchun people's commune was established. In 1983, the commune was changed into a township, and in 2009, the township was withdrawn to build a town. By the end of 2019, Manchun town has jurisdiction over 23 administrative villages.
