The origin of place names

As early as before the Northern Song Dynasty, this place was a ferry on the Yellow River, named Liuqing ferry. In order to prevent the flood, to suppress the water devil, the people spontaneously donated money to cast an iron ox at this ferry, and named this place iron ox ferry. "Revitalizing Huaxian county records" records: "in the past, most people cast iron for cattle, and cast them into the water, which means that they can control floods." After Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin established his capital Bianjing (now Kaifeng City), it was near the capital. The village market developed rapidly, and the trade industry flourished. Therefore, the Tieniu ferry was changed into Tieniu town. In the fourteenth year of emperor Renzong of Song Dynasty (Zhao Zhen), there were torrential rains, the Yellow river overflowed, and the river defense was extremely critical. In this case, shangguanhui, the general of Zhenhe, led the people to fight against the flood day and night, and unfortunately died. In memory of his merits, the imperial court built a Shangguan ancestral hall here, which was renamed Shangguan town by later generations.

In order to resist the oppression, Han people (especially the generation of Central Plains) agreed to wrap a piece of paper with the words "kill tartar" in the middle of the moon cake when steaming the moon cake on August 15 to express their determination not to kill tartar. This event was called "kill tartar on August 15" by later generations. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, in order to retaliate for the incident of "killing Tatars on August 15", the imperial court sent yuan troops to this place to carry out a frenzied campaign.
