Jiaoyuan Township, belonging to Dongming County, Heze City, Shandong Province, is located in the southwest of Dongming County, adjacent to SANCHUNJI town in the East, Guyang town of Lankao County in the south, Changyuan County across the Yellow River in the West and changxingji Township in the north. The area is 121.12 square kilometers. In 2018, 57117 people registered residence.

In 1961, it was changed into Sanchun district. In 1963, Jiaoyuan commune was established. In December 1983, the commune was withdrawn and Jiaoyuan township was built. In June 2020, Jiaoyuan rural area governs 32 administrative villages.

In August 1947, it belonged to six districts of Dongming County, Heze special office of Pingyuan province.

In November 1952, it belongs to six districts of Dongming County, Zhengzhou special district.

In 1956, Jiaoyuan, Jinggang and Gantang townships were established.

In 1958, the three townships merged to form SANCHUNJI commune.

In 1961, it was changed into Sanchun district.

In 1963, Jiaoyuan commune was established.
