Huangzhenji, once known as Yuhuang town in history, was changed into huangzhenji in 1942 and was assigned to Heze County after the founding of the people's Republic of China. Huangzhen township was established in 1984. Its predecessor was Huangzhen commune, which was established in January 1979 by remote villages and townships of former Shatu commune and former Xinji commune. in August 2017, with the approval of the provincial government, Huangzhen sub district office was established.
