Dayu town

Dayu town is located 30 kilometers east of Tonggu County, bordering Xiushui County in the East and Tanshan town in Yifeng County in the west, covering an area of 212.25 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 13 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee, with a permanent resident population of 17635 (2017). In 1995, it was listed as a pilot town for the construction of 500 small towns in China.

In October 2019, Dayu town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Historical evolution

Dayu town is the political, economic and cultural center of Donghe District in Tonggu County, with a long history. Comrade Mao Zedong personally led and launched the famous Autumn Harvest Uprising here. General Teng Daiyuan once fought here for nearly three months.

In 2008, in strict accordance with the overall planning and layout of small town construction, the town built a new ring road of 3 km and Jiulong road of 34 m in width, with complete infrastructure facilities, farmers' markets, bus stations, kindergartens, telecommunications, Xinhe, hospitals, tobacco and residential housing on the street. The construction of small towns has begun to take shape. With the vigorous development of culture and education, it is one of the top 100 cultural towns in the province. Two boarding schools, tianzhufeng primary school and hehou hope primary school, have become education demonstration points in the province, receiving tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country every year.
