Historical evolution

It was named "shuangcun" because it lived by the "Shuangfeng" river; it was called Beipan Township in the Republic of China.

In 1951, Liancheng, Quling, shuangcun and Beipan townships were established; in 1958, they were merged into Badu commune; in 1960, they were transformed into shuangcun commune; in 1968, they were merged into paddy commune; in 1972, they were established; in 1984, they were transformed into shuangcun township.

In December 1999, shuangcun was changed from township to town.

In September 2003, the two village committees of Jiangjia and Hupi were abolished. Jiangjia village merged with Matian village; Hupi village merged with Liancheng village.

Shuangcun town is located in the north of Jishui County, bordering Yongfeng County in the East, Shuitian Township in the west, Laoqiao town and Wujiang town in the South and Badu town in the north. Shuangcun town is a low mountain and high hill area, with mountainous area in the East and hilly land in the northwest, with Valley and small basin between them. The terrain inclines from east to northwest. The highest point is south peak of baifuling, 432 meters above sea level. The lowest point is Jiangkou depression, 50 meters above sea level.

In shuangcun Town, Hengshan Reservoir, a medium-sized reservoir built in the county, has a storage capacity of 9.3 million cubic meters. Shuangfeng River, with Hengshan Reservoir as its source, runs through the whole territory from east to west and joins Zhuqi water in Shuitian township.
