Erkou Township

Erkou Township, subordinate to Guixi City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Guixi City and the middle reaches of Luxi river. It is separated by Tangwan town in the East, Lengshui town in the south, Jinxi County and Zixi County in the West and Shangqing town in the north. The area is about 184 square kilometers, with 12300 mu of cultivated land and 170000 mu of forest land. It has jurisdiction over 6 administrative villages, 52 natural villages, 76 village groups, 2786 households, with a total population of 10400 in 2018.

Historical evolution

On the eve of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Shangqing and Lengshui townships in Shangqing district.

In 1950, it belonged to Zhenshang, Erkou and Lengshui townships in Shangqing district.

In 1952, it belonged to Zhenshang, Erkou, Gangkou, Guanqiao and Meitan township of Bixi district.

In 1958, it belonged to Erkou and Niwan communes.

In 1964, Ekou and Niwan communes merged.

In 1965, Niwan, Baimiao and Meixi brigades were drawn out.

In 1968, it was merged with Lengshui forest farm.

In 1973, Lengshui forest farm was restored.

In 1984, Erkou township was established.

Erkou township is located in the south of Guixi City, in the middle reaches of Luxi River, with Tangwan town in the East, Lengshui town in the south, Jinxi County and Zixi County in the West and Shangqing town in the north. The area is about 184 square kilometers.

topographic features

The terrain in Erkou Township inclines from south to north, and the Wuyi Mountains wedge into the East and West, forming an irregular T-shaped depression. Bijiafeng in the west is the highest, with an altitude of 1375.5 meters, while Caoyuan in the north is the lowest, with an altitude of 85 meters.

In Erkou Township, there are Luxi River, Meitan River, Huitan River, etc. with large river drop, there are broad prospects for hydropower development. Four hydropower stations have been built with an installed capacity of more than 6000 kilowatts.

Luxi river is about 10 kilometers long, flowing from Erkou forest farm in Southwest China to the northwest of caoyuankou. One of its tributaries is from the West foot of Longji peak on the eastern border, flowing West to Huitan, and the other is from the northwest foot of salmon peak on the southwest border, flowing from the Northeast to Qizhou Hekou.

Yuntai Mountain

Yuntai Mountain, with an altitude of 858.2 meters, is one of the 13 scenic spots of Longhu Mountain.
