Wanlongshan Township

Wanlongshan township is a township under the jurisdiction of Luxi County, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the east of Pingxiang City, east of Wugong mountain. It is adjacent to Mingyue Mountain in the East, Anfu county of Ji'an City in the south, Wugong Mountain in the West and Huayun boundary of Luxi County in the north, covering an area of 147.7 square kilometers, including 109436 mu of forest land. The township has 9318.59 mu of arable land, 1305 mu of dry land and 190000 mu of mountain forest, with a forest coverage rate of 75%. The territory is rich in rare animal and plant resources. Wanlongshan is rich in geothermal hot spring resources.

On December 24, 2019, it will be included in the list of national rural governance demonstration towns.

Historical evolution

It belonged to Maodian commune in 1958, Wanlongshan commune was established in 1960, and was incorporated into state-owned Wanlongshan reclamation farm in 1966. In 1997, it covers an area of 78.3 square kilometers and has a population of 6000. It has jurisdiction over seven administrative villages, namely Dongkeng, Changling, Longshang, Nanling, xiachong, caoxia and Xiacun. In 2003, Huayun township was merged into the city.

Attachment: Huayun township is located in the east of Luxi County. There are highways connecting 320 National Highway in the north and 319 National Highway in the West. Maodian commune was established in 1958, merged into Wanlongshan reclamation farm in 1969, restored to Maodian commune in 1972, and renamed Huayun Township in 1984.

In 1997, with an area of 54.4 square kilometers and a population of 8000, it has jurisdiction over nine administrative villages, namely Maodian, Guihua, niudang, Mogao, Sanqin, Longshang, Huangjiang, Longshan and Sanxing. The township government is located in Maodian village, 13.4km away from the county government. On September 4, 2003, Huayun township was abolished and put under the jurisdiction of Wanlongshan township.

Agriculture

Wanlongshan rural agriculture mainly produces rice, rich in fir, pine, miscellaneous wood, bamboo, tea, medicinal materials. After years of development, by 2004, Wanlongshan township has formed a number of characteristic agricultural industries with low-cost bamboo forest, tea, medicinal materials, Dictyophora, goat breeding, alpine vegetables, etc. Ginkgo biloba, Eucommia ulmoides, Gastrodia elata, Magnolia officinalis and Zizhu are the main medicinal materials. Small hydropower, bamboo and wood processing, food processing and other resource-based enterprises and pillar industries continue to grow, and the industrial economy has made great progress.
