Shicheng Town

Shicheng Town, belonging to Zhouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is located on the Bank of Dongyang River in the middle of Zhouning County, facing Longting River in the East, Muyun she township of Fu'an City across the river, Qibu town in the south, and Puyuan town in the West and North. It is 15 kilometers wide from east to west and 16.5 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 57.93 square kilometers. In late 2018, the town had 53528 registered residence.

Shicheng Town is named after a mountain in the north of the city that looks like a lion playing ball. In 1945, Zhouning county was established as the residence of Zhouning county government. In 1950, Shicheng Town was divided into three townships: Chengguan, Bantou and CHENFENG. In 1952, Chengguan Township was renamed Chengguan town. In November 1957, it was changed into a county town. As of June 2020, Shicheng Town has a total of 8 administrative villages.

Historical evolution

From Song Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the sixteen capitals of dongyangli, Qingtian Township, Ningde county.

In the 35th year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1556), Shu Chunfang, the governor of Fujian Province, appropriated money to build the city wall, which was renamed zhoudun. Jianxing County, known as dongyangxing County, was stationed in the main office and collected taxes.

In 1981, hongtan brigade was divided into Longtan and Yangzhuang, Nanxin brigade into Nanzhuang and Xianxi, and Nanzhuang brigade was divided into Chengguan town. Chengguan Town governed Chengguan, Nanzhuang two brigades and a resident brigade; suburban commune governed Xianxi, Longtan, Yangzhuang, anhou, Yangwei, Bantou, hugang, CHENFENG and Qianping nine production brigades.
