Historical evolution

In history, Xinmatou town was a place where water and land converged. In the early Song Dynasty, it was called Baijiatan Town, which was inherited by Jin Dynasty. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was called Matou town (Ji), belonging to Deren township. The Republic of China belongs to the fourth district. During the Anti Japanese War, it belonged to one district first and then to four districts. In August 1944, the county government moved into the town. In 1953, it was called Matou township. August 29, 1958 belongs to Matou commune of Quzhou County. On March 27, 1962, it was renamed Matou commune of Qiu county. In 1984, it was renamed Chengguan town. It was renamed Xinmatou town on September 5, 1988. On January 16, 1996, Hebao Township and Jiazhai Township were merged.
