Suobu Zhen is located in the west of Shexian County, Handan City, Hebei Province, 11.2 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 95.78 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 25600 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages, and the town government is located in suobao village. Handan Changzhi and Yangquan Shexian railway pass through, and the highway goes West to Licheng and Zuoquan counties of Shanxi Province. The historical sites include the wa palace built in the Northern Qi Dynasty.

On January 9, 2019, suopuo town was selected into the list of "hometown of Chinese folk culture and art" from 2018 to 2020 by virtue of Nuwa culture and Saixi.

Evolution of organizational system

Since ancient times, it has been a thoroughfare of Shanxi and Hebei and an important town in the west of the county. During the Anti Japanese War, the government of the Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan border region and its subordinate departments and bureaus of finance, construction, culture and education, transportation, taxation, industry and commerce, and the Bank of Southern Hebei were stationed in suobao village and tanyin village respectively. Suobu township was established in 1953, commune in 1958 and town in 1984. In 1996, Wencun township was incorporated into China. In 1997, it covers an area of 94.8 square kilometers and has a population of 26000.
