Hongshan Street
Hongshan street is under the jurisdiction of Xinwu District of Wuxi City. It starts from Caohe River in the East and ends in the west, connects Suzhou high tech Development Zone in the south, Wuxi airport in the west, Xidong new town in the north, 312 National Road, Huning Expressway, Xizhang Expressway and Wangyu River. The three-dimensional water, land and air transportation is convenient. It covers an area of 58.52 square kilometers and has a population of 70678 (2010).
Hongshan Street governs four communities of hongyunyuan community 1, hongyunyuan community 2, hongtaiyuan community 1, hongtaiyuan community 2, Houzhai neighborhood committee and Hongsheng Neighborhood Committee 2, and 13 village committees of dafangqiao village, Lianghong village, Jianxin village, Houzhong village, Daxin village, Nantang village, dongtangjie village, Maqiao village, qifangqiao village, Hongsheng village, Hongxin village, Hongshan village and Hongxi village.
On September 9, 2017, the construction of "Hongshan IOT town" was announced. In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed.
Historical evolution
According to the records of Meili, Zou Mingliang, the Minister of the Ming military department, built a house here from Xutang. Because the new house is behind the old house, it is called Houzhai. In 1949, it was Houzhai Town, belonging to Dangkou district. In 1950, the township was changed, the commune was changed in 1958, the township was changed in 1983, and the town was changed in 1993. In 1996, it covers an area of 33 square kilometers and has a population of 32000. It has jurisdiction over 17 administrative villages and Houzhai neighborhood committees in Dangdong, Jinxi, wujiabang, Zhanqiao, Jianzhong, dongjianong, Jin'e, Houzhai, gejiaqiao, Zhangwang street, ximaxiang, shijiaqiao, Nantang, Xiangshan, Dongtang street, jian'anqiao and Wangyuhe.
The former Hongsheng town was located in Hongsheng natural Town, which was secluded by Qian Hongsheng, a wealthy businessman in the late Qing Dynasty. It was commonly known as Qian hongshengli, or hongshengli for short. Hongsheng town was established in 1949, belonging to Dangkou district. In 1956, it was changed to Hongsheng township. In 1958, it was changed to commune, in 1983 to Township, and in 1993 to town. In 1996, it covers an area of 25 square kilometers and has a population of 23000. It has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages of Maqiao, qianfangqiao, heyanqiao, Damuqiao, qifangqiao, Hongsheng, huasanfang, zhangtangqiao, ronggengshang, Hongshan, majiali, Xicang, hongfengqiao, xinzaoqiao fishery and Hongsheng neighborhood committee.
In October 2003, Hongsheng town and Houzhai town merged to establish Hongshan Town, which got its name because of Hongshan in the north. It is adjacent to Ehu town in the East, Shuofang street and Meicun town in Binhu District in the west, Dongqiao town and Huangdai town in Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City across the river in the south, and anzhen town in the north. It covers an area of 58.65 square kilometers and has a population of 53100. It administers 15 village committees including Maqiao, Youlian, Hongxin, Hongsheng, Hongshan, Hongxi, qifangqiao, Dangdong, Dongtang street, dafangqiao, Lianghong, Jianxin, Houzhong, Daxin and Nantang, and 2 neighborhood committees including Hongsheng and Houzhai. The town government is located in Jinhong Road, Houzhai nature Town, about 16 kilometers southeast of Xishan District. In 2005, Hongshan Town of Xishan District was entrusted to Wuxi New District. In 2009, Hongshan Town was abolished and Hongshan street was established under the management of Wuxi New District. In 2015, Xinwu district was established under the jurisdiction of Xinwu district.
