Qitao town

Qitao was named Qitao in ancient times and changed to Qitao in the late Qing Dynasty. It is said that there is a stone of rice on the blank headland in the southwest. The rice gushes out from the cave. It is a rare thing in the world. From this, Qitao gets its name. Later, a scholar embellished the word "Tao" and named it Qitao. On May 18, 1998, the township was withdrawn to build a town. Qitao town is located in the northeast of Datian County, adjacent to Youxi County, with a total land area of 72 square kilometers and a cultivated land area of 11500 mu.

In 2017, the town has 12 administrative villages, 28 natural villages, 63 villager groups, 4548 households and 14600 people.

General situation

The terrain is mainly mountainous and hilly. The terrain is high in the East and low in the West. The altitude is 230-1116m. The annual average temperature is 18.8 ℃, the frost free period is about 270 days, and the annual rainfall is 1000-2200mm. Due to the great difference of terrain, there are many kinds of animals and plants suitable for growth.

There are abundant mineral resources in the territory, such as coal, porcelain clay, limestone, iron ore, lead-zinc ore, etc., of which the porcelain clay reserves are 50 million tons, the highest in the county; the total reserves of coal and limestone are more than 10 million tons.

Convenient transportation, 64 km away from the county, to Sanming, Shaxian, Youxi are provincial road, county road trunk line, the distance is 50 ~ 60 km, 18 km west with the provincial road 212, less than 60 km away from the entrance of Jingfu expressway.

Agricultural situation

The total cultivated land area of the town is 11500 mu, including 10574 mu of paddy field, 853 mu of agricultural land and 73791 mu of woodland, with a forest coverage rate of 59%. In recent years, Qitao has taken the adjustment of agricultural structure as the main line, the development of rural economy and the increase of farmers' income as the focus, vigorously developed agricultural production, and gradually formed three bases of tea fruit, Yongxian chicken and vegetables. The area of tea fruit is 12006 mu, including 2354 mu of tea, 200000 Yongxian chickens and 2100 mu of vegetables. Through the adjustment of agricultural structure, the proportion of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery has been adjusted from 69.7 ∶ 14.4 ∶ 14.1 ∶ 1.8 in 2000 to 66.8 ∶ 14.4 ∶ 16.7 ∶ 2.1 in 2003, and the structure gradually tends to be reasonable.

Industrial situation

Qitao enterprise now has a coal mine with an annual output of more than 100000 tons of raw coal, a cement plant with an annual output of 100000 tons of cement, a non-metallic mine with an annual output of 60000 tons of limestone, a Hongyuan mining company with an annual output of 20000 tons of iron concentrate, a textile factory with an annual output of 5 million meters of industrial base cloth, three textile factories with an annual output of 1 million meters, 12 hydropower stations, with a total installed capacity of 2660 kW, and four ceramic production enterprises. In the past two years, through the implementation of the project driven strategy, the introduction of domestic and foreign capital, and the adoption of "expanding, revitalizing, developing, and treating paralysis" to rapidly increase the total economic output.

Hydropower industry: introduce 6.5 million yuan from outside the area, build a new Taozhou hydropower station with an installed capacity of 1430 kW, and build two new shanghutan and Shuanglong hydropower stations, so as to reasonably develop and utilize the water resources of the town.
