It is commonly known as Henglu. Honglu township was established in 1949. In 1958, it belonged to Dongzhang commune and Chengguan commune. On May 11, 1970, Yinxi commune was renamed Honglu commune, and its address was moved from Chengguan to Honglu. In October 1978, Honglu commune was divided into Yinxi commune and Honglu commune. Honglu commune has 19 brigades under its jurisdiction. In September 1984, it was changed to Honglu town. In 1996, it covers an area of 56.9 square kilometers and has a population of 44000. It has jurisdiction over 20 administrative villages in Zhenbian, ZHOUDIAN, Nanfeng, Jinyin, Dapu, Xinhua, Dongping, Xixia, guanyinpu, xiaonanyang, Honglu, Qishan, Zhenfeng, Yuejin, Shimen, Longtang, beiqianting, Gaolun, Yangzi and Hongxing, and two neighborhood committees in Honglu and Yaohua.
At the end of 2005, the provincial government approved the cancellation of Honglu town. In 2006, Honglu street was officially established, following the original name of Honglu town. It governs the Honglu community of Honglu town and 10 administrative villages including Zhenbian, ZHOUDIAN, Nanfeng, Jinyin, Dapu, Xinhua, Dongping, Xixia, Honglu and Shimen. The former Fuyao community of Honglu town and eight administrative villages, namely beiqianting, Qishan, Zhenfeng, Yuejin, Longtang, gaoshanlun, Yangzi and Hongxing, are designated as Shizhu street, while guanyinpu and xiaonanyang are designated as new Longjiang street. In 2010, the resident population of Honglu street was 49142 (Liupu).
