Aojiang town is located in the north suburb of Lianjiang county, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. In 1997, the original Aojiang town was divided into Aojiang town and Jiangnan township. The newly built Aojiang town was relocated from Fengcheng to baishaju. It has 13 villages, 3 neighborhood committees and 253 villager groups.

In 2017, the administrative area was 4154 hectares, with 53427 permanent residents.

Aojiang commune was established in 1959, township was changed in 1984, and town was changed in 1993. In 1997, it had jurisdiction over 30 village committees in Jiangnan, Baisha, Fengwei, Jigu, Kuiqi, Beiyue, Xiaowan, hengcha, Changting, meiyang, pitun, Daiyun, Puxia, Nantang, Shanting, Shitou, Jinglu, mupu, Shantang, Huawu, Liandeng, Ruyang, Qingtang, Shangshan, Xiashan, Lianxing, Wenxin, Wangzhuang, Chengyan and Qingxi. In 1997, 15 administrative villages established Jiangnan township. Aojiang town government moved from Fengcheng to Baisha.

Resources

Aojiang plain is rich in resources, rich in high-quality rice, fruit fragrance throughout the year, known as the "land of fish and rice" reputation. The geothermal resources of the county come from Daiyun village, with a daily hot spring volume of more than 2000 tons and a water temperature of 61 ℃, which can be used for bathing, medical treatment and the development of breeding industry. Aojiang River, Panxi River and Caixi river form the natural irrigation, flood control and waterlogging drainage network of Aojiang plain. There are Caixi I Hydropower Station and Caixi III hydropower station in the area, with an annual power generation of 15 million kWh and interconnection with the power system of the whole province.
