In May 2008, Baimaoling prison was awarded the title of modern civilized prison by the Ministry of justice. in May 2009, he won the title of civilized unit of Shanghai municipal organ system. in 2010, he won the collective commendation of Shanghai civil servants. in 2011, he won the honorary title of "national advanced collective of judicial administration system". in 2012, he was rated as a civilized unit in Shanghai.

The prison has a party committee, a commission for Discipline Inspection, a trade union and a Youth League Committee. The Party committee has 21 party branches. There are 18 departments under the jurisdiction of 4 prison areas, 9 agricultural branches (units), 8 neighborhood committees, 1 Comprehensive factory and Public Security Bureau.
