Historical evolution

LiuTao town got its name from the fact that the surname Liu built a village at Hetao on the south side of the old Yellow River. In the early Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Leshan Township, Xiaoxian County, Xuzhou Prefecture. at the end of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to liujiatao village in Leshan township. In 1931, it belonged to Hetao Township, the seventh district. In 1934, it belonged to the fourth district. In 1949, Liu Tao township was established. In 1958, Liu Tao township was abolished and Liu Tao commune was established. In 1983, LiuTao commune was changed into LiuTao township. In 1992, LiuTao township was replaced by LiuTao town.
