Guantang township was set up in 1950, commune was established in 1958, township was changed in 1984, and WangYan town was renamed in 1992.
WangYan Town, subordinate to Funan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province, is the western border of Funan County. The town government is 24 kilometers away from Funan County, 60 kilometers away from Fuyang City, the central city of Northwest Anhui, and 248 kilometers away from Hefei, the provincial capital. It is the junction of two provinces and three counties (Anhui, Henan, Funan, Linquan, Huaibin). Fu (South) Guan (Tang) highway transit. It has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages. There are 55703 permanent residents (in 2017), covering an area of 71.68 square kilometers. The town is plagued by many disasters, including floods and droughts. The farmers live in poverty.
There are three fairs (Guantang, Zhanglou and Lulou) in the agricultural area and Guantang in the place where the town government is located.

It is the junction of two provinces and three counties (Anhui, Henan, Funan, Linquan and Huaibin). It is adjacent to Honghe flood diversion channel in the south, Zhaoji town in Huaibin County, Guhe River in the north, taolao, aiting and Xieji towns in Linquan County in the West and North. Fu (South) Guan (Tang) highway transit. It has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages, 168 natural villages and 325 villager groups, with a permanent population of 55703 (in 2017), covering an area of 71.68 square kilometers, including 58926 mu of cultivated land. In 2004, the per capita net income of the town was 1267 yuan.
The terrain is high in the middle, low in the south, north slope, high in the west, like a pot, with 2.08 million mu of arable land, juhonghe gonghongdao flood storage area and Guhe low-lying land, and the rest of the arable land is Wuhu (majiahu, liaohu, Jiaohu, Duhu, yanxihu) low-lying land, with many disasters, waterlogging, no rain and drought.

Economic agriculture
There are three fairs (Guantang, Zhanglou, Lulou) and Guantang, where the town government is located. It is mainly operated by commerce, diet and non-staple food, mostly by the exchange of self-produced materials. Agriculture is dominated by wheat, with a small amount of rice.
