Fanyang Town, belonging to Fanchang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, is located in the south of the Yangtze River. It is the seat of the government of Fanchang District, formerly known as Chengguan town. The economic, political and cultural center of the whole county is 27 km away from Wuhu City in the East and 50 km away from Tongling City in the West. The town has a total area of 109.05 square kilometers (2017), with 18 villagers' committees, 11 neighborhood committees and 94125 people (2017). Historical evolution

MABA township is located in the north of Fanchang County, 6 kilometers away from the county. MABA commune was established in 1961, and the township was changed in 1984. In 1996, with an area of 41.3 square kilometers and a population of 17000, it has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages of Yanshan, Gangyao, Chashan, daichong, Kushan, Machang, Panqiao, Hetou, Dayang and Yinong.

In December 2003, Chengguan Town, Xingang Town, Hengshan Township, MABA Township and Gao'an Township were merged into Fanyang Town, with an area of 206.5 square kilometers and a population of 153175. Fanchangyao site

Fanchang martyrs cemetery

To commemorate the 167 martyrs who died in Fanchang, the tomb of Fanchang martyrs was built in 1956 at the foot of flagpole mountain in the east gate of the county.
