Chatian town is located in the southwest of Longquan City, Zhejiang Province. It is adjacent to Pingnan town in the East, Xiaomei town in the south, Badu town in the northwest and Lanju Township in the northeast. It is 32 kilometers away from Longquan City, 54 provincial road across the town, convenient transportation. The town has a total area of 122.22 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 14872 (2017).

General situation of field investigation

Chatian town is located in the southwest of Longquan City, Zhejiang Province. It is adjacent to Pingnan town in the East, Xiaomei town in the south, Badu town in the northwest and Lanju Township in the northeast. Chatian is 27 kilometers away from Longquan City. 54 provincial highway runs through the whole town. The 25 Expressway under construction has an entrance and exit in Chatian, with convenient transportation. It has 32 administrative villages with a total population of 14872 (in 2017). Chatian town is open and fertile, with 17142 mu of arable land and 187842 mu of mountain forest, including 25000 mu of bamboo shoot dual-use forest, and the whole town is covered by Cunninghamia lanceolata and pine trees. In the first 11 months of 2011, the total industrial output value was 607.832 million yuan, and hardware was its pillar industry. In 2011, it was rated as the central town of Lishui City. Chatian town is rich in eco-tourism resources. There are national cultural relics protection sites -- xikouyao site, Babaoshan silver mine site, Babaoshan, Gulai mountain and other famous mountains.

Historical evolution

Chatian town has a long history. Eight pieces of celadon, such as "chicken head pot", "chicken crown pot" and "lotus petal bowl", were unearthed from the tomb of "the first year of Yongchu" (420) in Xiabao village, indicating that there were celadon firing activities in or around Chatian at that time. After the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Yanqing Township, three capitals and four capitals. In 1370, Qingyuan County was merged and returned to Longquan, and the inspection department was set up in Chatian. In November of the 13th year of Hongwu, Qingyuan County was restored, and the inspection department was abolished. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, Chatian town was established. In the 22nd year of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xiaomei district and set up chachuan and other towns. In the 27th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xiaomei District, and the county belonged to chachuan town and chafeng township. Chatian district was set up on July 30, 1949, and now it belongs to chachuan Township and Jianfeng township. In 1958, it belonged to Meiling commune and later to Meiling district. In December 1988, the original Chatian township was abolished and the Chatian town was established. In April 1992, when the district was withdrawn to expand the town and the township was merged, the original chafeng township was merged into Chatian town.

Geomorphology and climate

The Lishui, Zhenghe fault zone between Donggong mountain and xianxialing mountains passes through the middle. In the territory of rolling mountains, continuous, rich in forest, water, mineral resources. With pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, it belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone. Meixi flows from the south to the northeast, where Nanjiao water flows into Xikou, and flows into Lanju Township from the northeast after chafengna Shilong river. There are more than 1000 meters of peaks in the territory. Babao mountain is 1200 meters above sea level. The mountains are high on both sides of the valley, and the middle Chatian basin is about 2 square kilometers.

Under its jurisdiction, there are 32 administrative villages, namely Chayi, Chaer, chasan, shangdun, quankeng, Xikou, Dazhang, Xiayu, dazhang'ao, Xiabao, Donghuang, Chenshan, Xixi, Wutian, Luxi, Wanshan, Xiawan, dakengxia, zhekeng, QingKeng, qingkeng'ao, Duntou, huangjialin, qingkengdi, Yutou, Zhutian, xiaochatian, Hengkeng, zhaomayu, Zhuzhou, Xinfeng and Shilong. There are 65 natural villages and 156 villager groups in the town, of which the population of market town is 3160.
