Yanyuan street, a street under the jurisdiction of Haidian District, Beijing, is located in the middle of the district. The campus of Peking University is under the dual leadership of Haidian District government and Peking University.

Yanyuan street has a permanent population of 37548 (in 2010), including 6600 residents and more than 20000 students. It governs seven communities. The office is located in Changchun Garden, No.5, Yiheyuan Road, Haidian District. The historic site is Yanyuan.

Yanyuan Street starts from the middle section of Chengfu road in the East, ends at Xiyuan bridge of Wanquanhe road in the west, Haidian Road in the south, Qinghua West Road in the north, and yanbeiyuan community is located on the west side of Yuanmingyuan West Road, bordering Zhongguancun Street, Qinghua Garden Street, Haidian Street, Qinglongqiao Street and Haidian town.

Historical evolution

Yanyuan street was established in December 1981. The campus of Peking University is under the dual leadership of Haidian District government and Peking University.

In 1996, it covers an area of 2.3 square kilometers and has a population of 26000. It has jurisdiction over 10 neighborhood committees, including Zhongguanyuan north, Zhongguanyuan south, 4-7 apartments, Yandong garden, Yannan garden, Langrun garden, Weixiu garden, Changchun Garden, Chengze garden and Yanbei garden. The office is located in the campus of Peking University (Yanyuan).

At the end of 2002, the area was 1.7 square kilometers, with 35379 registered residence and 8800 migrant population. It also owned 7 communities, including zeta garden, Chung Kwan garden, Chang Chun Yuan, Wei Xiu Yuan, Yan Dong Yuan, Yan Bei yuan and 7 schools.
