Yucheng Town, Haiyan County, Zhejiang Province, is located in the middle of Haiyan, 8.8km away from the county seat. It is adjacent to Wuyuan town in the East, Tongyuan town in Nantong, Baibu town in the West and Shendang town in the north. There are salt lake highway, yanjiadang, etc. The town governs 8 administrative villages, 235 villager groups and 1 neighborhood committee, with a total area of 42.96 square kilometers. 25300 people (in 2017), and the per capita net income of farmers in 2012 was 19154 yuan, an increase of 11.3% over 2011.

Historical evolution

Yucheng was built during the war between Wu and Yue in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. The king of Wu built the city to defend Yue. It was one of the "eight cities of Wu and Yue" and later abolished. During the period of Long'an (397-401) in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the city was built to prepare for sun en, and it was named Er Cheng. ER was the meaning of "an", and gradually there were shops. In the Tang Dynasty, the land of Er city once belonged to Shuiyun Township, and later entered Kaiji township. In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to Ercheng and Tongyuan district. In March 1956, it belonged to Ercheng commune. In 1965, it was changed to Ercheng commune. In October 1983, it was changed to Ercheng commune. In 1994, when it was changed from township to town, it was called "Yucheng commune".

Memorabilia of reform and opening up

In 1987, Mr. and Mrs. Zhang Lisheng tried to breed soft shelled turtle artificially. They became rich through hard work and led the surrounding farmers to breed soft shelled turtle.

In 1988, the town built a water station.

In 1991, the town adult education center was awarded the advanced unit of the national rural education comprehensive reform by the State Education Commission.

In May 1993, Haiyan silk spinning industry Co., Ltd. was put into operation. In 1994, the second and third phases of the project were launched. In 1997, Guantang silk spinning factory was merged. In 1998, Haiyan silk spinning industry Co., Ltd. won the title of national advanced export enterprise.

In August 1994, the town radio station invested 400000 yuan to develop cable TV, and Goucheng village set up a special aquaculture farm, which is a county-level "one excellent two high" agricultural demonstration base.

In December 1995, the preschool education complex building with an investment of 1 million yuan was completed, and classes began in March 1996.

In 1995, zhennongke station popularized high-yield supporting technology and achieved a good harvest of late rice, which won the third prize of the national harvest award of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery of the Ministry of agriculture.

In July 1998, the ground was broken in the school room in the city.

Cultural details

Yucheng has a long history. It was built during the Wu Yue war in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2500 years. It has a long history of culture and rich tourism resources. It is surrounded by Qianfo Pavilion, which is known as "the first Pavilion in Zhejiang Province"; Nanbei lake, which is known as "Little West Lake"; Qiyuan, one of the top ten private homes in China.
