The word "Bai" in Baicheng county is transliterated from the word "Bayi", which means rich.

Baicheng County, belonging to Aksu, Xinjiang, is located at the southern foot of the Middle Tianshan Mountain, the Intermountain basin on the northern edge of Queletage mountain and the upper reaches of Weigan River. It is adjacent to Zhaosu county and Tekes County in the north, Xinhe County in the south, Kuqa County in the East and Wensu County in the West. The total area is 15917 square kilometers. In 2017, the total population was 240810. The county people's government is located in Baicheng, 860 kilometers away from Urumqi. Baicheng county is high in the north and low in the south, with an altitude of 1200 meters.

Historical evolution

Baicheng county was the land of Kumo state and kuci state in Han Dynasty, which was under the command of the western regions.

In the Tang Dynasty, there were two cities here: the west city was "axiyan city" and the east city was "jupiluo city", both of which belonged to Gumo Prefecture and were ruled by kuci Dudu Fu under Anxi Dufu.

The yuan and Ming Dynasties were under the jurisdiction of Bishi Bali.

In 1760, there were still two cities, Bayi and Sailimu.
