Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County (hereinafter referred to as Xinping County) is a county under the jurisdiction of Yuxi City. It was set up in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, which means a newly settled place.

The rivers in Xinping County belong to Yuanjiang River system except gumajiang river which belongs to Lixianjiang river system. The main rivers of Lixianjiang are madajiang River and Bandong river. The main stream of Yuanjiang River flows through Xinping County, with a length of 113.7 kilometers. Shiyang River is above the Sanjiangkou, Jiasa river is above the Sanjiangkou Hekou bridge, and Mosha river is below the Hekou bridge. It flows into Yuanjiang County at Mosha adei Village. The major tributaries along both banks of Yuanjiang River are Luzhi River, Dachun River, NANDA River, Mianhua River, nan'en River, Daha River, Faqi River, Yawei River, manbeng River, Diaojiao River, Bili River, Kunlong River, EDE River, Xini River, nangan River, Pingdian River, kangzhikang River, Yani River, etc.
There are 37 kinds of mineral resources in Xinping County, including gold, copper, iron, chromium, aluminum, palladium, uranium, coal, limestone, dolomite, asbestos, talc, marble, etc. Among them, the proven reserves of iron ore are 544 million tons, copper 147.46 million tons, coal 6.2 million tons, recoverable 2.5 million tons, zinc 362 million tons and marble 260 million cubic meters.
Xinping County has 1402 species of higher plants belonging to 219 families and 762 genera, including boleshu, shuiqingshu and Cuibai, 75 species of mammals, 153 species of birds, 45 species of amphibians and reptiles, and more than 130 species of insects, including Green Peacock and Silver Pheasant.
