The highest altitude is 594 meters in Shiling village, Qinglong Township, and the lowest altitude is 476.9 meters in zhuguosi village, Liulichang township. The relative height difference is 117.1 meters. The altitude of flat land is about 500 meters. The plain accounts for 74.7% of the total area, and the rest is shallow hills. The terrain of Jinniu District is relatively flat, except for the shallow hilly area near Longquanyi District and Xindu District in the north of the East, the rest are flat dams. There are only three types of geological structures in the territory: the flat land is covered with Quaternary loose deposits; the shallow hills and terraces are distributed with Ya'an gravel layer and yellowish brown Chengdu clay; the hills are composed of Quaternary Jurassic and Cretaceous red sandstone and mudstone. The groundwater is Quaternary pore phreatic water and bedrock fissure water. The area is affected by Longmenshan active fault in the West and Longquanshan active fault in the East, and affected by earthquake. The basic intensity is 7.

The burial depth is 1-2m in wet season and 2-4m in dry season. The flow direction is consistent with the terrain. From northwest to Southeast, the hydraulic gradient is 2%, and the physical property is good. The water temperature is 16 ℃ - 20.5 ℃. The chemical composition is mainly calcium bicarbonate type water and calcium magnesium bicarbonate type water. The salinity is below 1 g / L, and the hardness is about 25 ℃. Because of the Quaternary porous phreatic water, the water level and water quality are easily affected by the surface water, especially the urban and agricultural environmental conditions.
