Jinping District, the jurisdiction of Shantou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwest of Shantou City. The Tropic of cancer traverses the territory. It is adjacent to Longhu District in the East, Anbu town of Chaozhou City and DIDU town of Jieyang City in the north and northwest, Shantou port and Niutianyang in the South and xunwui island in the southwest. By 2019, Jinping district has jurisdiction over 12 streets with a total area of 102 square kilometers and a total population of 750000.

Jinping district is the political and cultural center of Shantou City and an important gateway of Shantou Special Economic Zone. Jinping is the birthplace of Shantou's "hundred years of commercial port". It has a small park full of cultural charm, old port, beautiful Niutianyang, gounan xudi, which is known as "a miniature of Chinese society in modern history", and Sangpu mountain, which has many places of interest. There are more than 10 cultural sites, such as customs history exhibition hall, museum, port opening culture exhibition hall, overseas Chinese approval document hall and cultural creative park.

In 2018, the GDP of Jinping district was 52.415 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry is 314 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry is 18.348 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry is 33.753 billion yuan.

Historical evolution

Chenghai county was set up in the first month of the 42nd year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1563). Before that, it was under the jurisdiction of Jieyang county. From then on, it belonged to the regions of Xijiang capital, crocodile Pu capital and Pengzhou capital of Yande township of Chenghai county.

In March 1921, Shantou City Hall was set up. At that time, the territory of Jinping was the whole area of Shantou City (except Qishi and Mayu, the same below) and the area of Luojiang District, crocodile Pu District and xiapeng district (part of the area, the same below) of Chenghai county.

In July 1934, Shantou City set up district office and square office. At that time, the five districts, 46 lanes and 21 townships under the jurisdiction of Fujiang, crocodile Pu and xiapeng were all in Jinping area.

On June 21, 1939, the Japanese invaded Shantou City, which was occupied by the Japanese. In May of the next year, Shantou City was divided into five towns: Yongsheng, Xinzhong, Anbang, Qilu and Daoji.

In August 1945, Japan surrendered. In April of the following year, five towns in the urban area were re established into five districts.

In February 1947, the reorganization of Baojia in Shantou City was completed. At that time, the five districts and 27 villages in 7 townships, such as Daopu, Chenghai County, and Huawu, Longyan, Changxia, Xinhu, Linghai, Xunhui, etc., which were newly under the jurisdiction of Shantou City, all belonged to Jinping region.

On October 24, 1949, Shantou City was liberated, the Baojia system was abolished, and six districts were set up in the urban area. At that time, Jinping was divided into 1-5 districts and Fupu district and xiapeng District of Chenghai county. District offices are set up in all districts of the city, and people's governments are set up in Fupu district and xiapeng district.

In September 1950, the division of Shantou City was adjusted, and six districts were merged into five districts. On October 1 of the same year, the district offices were reorganized and established as the District People's government.

In November 1952, Shantou City reduced five districts to four.

In May 1953, the residents committee of the mass autonomous organization was formally established in each district, under the direct leadership of the district government.

In June 1955, sub district offices were set up in all districts. In the first district, there are four sub district offices (Wan'an, Jixiang, Tuping, Yongtai) and Xiti water office, which are under the jurisdiction of 17 neighborhood committees; in the Second District, there are three sub district offices (Fuhe, Tianhou, Wuqiao), which are under the jurisdiction of 15 neighborhood committees; in the third district, there are four sub district offices (Qilu, Zhongma, Gongyuan (renamed Zhongshan in January next year), Xinxing and hanti Water Office), which are under the jurisdiction of 18 neighborhood committees.

In September 1958, Hongxing and Hongguang people's communes were established in Fupu Township and xiapeng Township respectively. Anping District, Tongping district and Gongyuan district were established as people's communes one after another.

In January 1962, the three communes resumed their district system.

In January 1967, the names of districts and streets in Jinping area were changed to revolutionary names in the "Cultural Revolution". Anping District was even more called Hongqi District, Tongping district was even more called Hongyang District, and the park district was even more called Hongwei District.

In 1968, the original four streets in Hongqi district were divided into 12 streets such as Dongfanghong and Dongfeng, the original three streets in Hongyang district were divided into 13 streets such as Xiangyang and Xianghong, and the original five streets in Hongwei District were divided into 15 streets such as Hongxing and Hongguang. From 1971 to 1975, the streets of each district were renamed.

On October 1, 1979, Hongqi District, Hongyang district and Hongwei District were renamed Anping District, Tongping district and Gongyuan district.

In July 1980, a new gold sand area was established.

In December 1983, the administrative division of Shantou City was adjusted. The suburbs of Shantou City were divided into suburbs and DAHAO District, and the two communes were renamed as Fupu district and Qishan district. In July 1984, with the approval of Guangdong provincial government, Anping District, Tongping District, Gongyuan district and Jinsha district were officially upgraded to county-level district system.

In October 1991, the administrative division of Shantou City was adjusted to four municipal districts: Longhu, Jinyuan, Shengping and DAHAO. At that time, Jinping was divided into Jinyuan District and Shengping district. Jinyuan District governs 12 streets and Qishan Town, while Shengping District governs 10 streets and Xupu town.

From the end of 1996 to January 1997, the towns of Fupu and Qishan were removed and streets were set up respectively.

In December 2001, Jinyuan District and Shengping District adjusted and merged streets at the same time. After the adjustment, Jinyuan District has jurisdiction over 9 streets and Shengping district has jurisdiction over 8 streets. In February of the next year, the community management system reform was carried out. Jinyuan District reduced the original 120 neighborhood committees to 82 community neighborhood committees, and Shengping District reduced the original 115 neighborhood committees to 75 community neighborhood committees.

In March 2003, with the approval of the State Council, Jinyuan District and Shengping district were merged and established.

Jinping district is located at the estuary of delta plain in the lower reaches of Hanjiang River. Facing the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait, Chaoshan Plain in the north and Kaohsiung in Taiwan, it is an important transportation hub in eastern Guangdong, southern Jiangxi and southwestern Fujian. Its central location is 116 ° 41 ′ 54 ″ E and 23 ° 22 ′ 07 ″ n, covering a total area of 102 square kilometers.

Topography

Jinping area is located in the circum Pacific seismic belt with strong crustal activity. It belongs to the southern part of the southeast coastal seismic belt (Quanzhou and Shantou seismic belt). The crustal faults are relatively developed. Many groups of fault zones intersect each other, cutting the crust into several fault blocks, forming a network structure pattern. The terrain in the territory is mainly plain, with a long coastline and natural harbor.

Jinping district has a subtropical marine climate with abundant rainfall, but the precipitation has significant seasonal variation, uneven distribution in each month, and large rainfall variation rate, mainly concentrated in April to September of flood season. 80% of the years are prone to spring drought of different degrees. If there is no tropical cyclone in the later flood season, the rainfall will be less. The temperature in Jinping region is high, the water evaporation is large, and the soil permeability is strong. More than 70% of the years under the jurisdiction are prone to varying degrees of autumn drought, or even continuous drought in autumn and winter, and about 30% of the years with severe autumn drought.

Rongjiang is the second largest river in Chaoshan. It flows into Niutianyang in Jinping district through Chaoyang District, and then goes out to sea from Shantou Bay. Hanjiang River is the second largest river in Guangdong Province. It is formed by the confluence of Meijiang River and Tingjiang River in the upper reaches at sanheba. It is divided into East, West and North streams in Chaozhou City. It flows into the South China Sea through the five major outlets of Shantou City. The main stream is 470 km long.

42 kinds of minerals have been found in Shantou City, with a total of 180 ore producing areas, and 19 kinds of minerals with proven reserves, mainly including tungsten, zircon, light rare earth, heavy rare earth, glass sand, granite for decoration, mineral water, followed by ilmenite, monazite, tin, bismuth, copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver, arsenic, groundwater, underground hot water, etc. Among them, there are 150 mineralization spots with low degree of work, only a certain ore bearing grade or small reserve scale, mainly including cinnabar, granite for construction, volcanic rock, diabase, kaolin and crystal, followed by iron, manganese, cobalt, beryllium, yttrium phosphate, silicon beryllium, peat, sand for construction, clay for brick and tile, natural gas, etc., some of which are distributed in Jinping district. To the north of Jilongshan reservoir in Jinping District, there is dashangpu mountain granite mining area, covering an area of 3.75 square kilometers. Longquanyan mineral water mining area covers an area of about 1 square kilometer. It is high-quality drinking natural mineral water containing strontium metasilicate, and the allowable mining amount is 64.80 cubic meters per day. The geological cave granite of Sangpu mountain in Liantang, covering an area of 2 square kilometers, has the largest number of crystal caves in the zhuqiandong rock mass in the north-west of Sangpu mountain. The size of crystal caves is generally several to dozens of centimeters, and the largest is more than 1 meter.

Biological resources

Niutianyang in Jinping district has a well preserved wetland ecosystem, with an area of nearly 40000 Mu and rich ecological resources. In May 2004, Niutianyang in Jinping district was listed as the first wetland project area of "reversing the trend of environmental degradation in the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand" by the United Nations Environment Agency. There are 268 species of wetland plants in Niutianyang, where more than 50000 migratory birds and waterbirds live every year. According to the investigation of experts, there are many kinds of birds under national and provincial protection, such as egret. Some of them are endangered species in the world and China, such as curly feathered pelican and black faced Spoonbill. Among them, those under national protection are brown winged crow cuckoo, kestrel, black winged Kite, black tailed Gull, kite, green shank and black eared Kite.
