Misfortune comes first
The Chinese idiom, Hu ò w é if ú Xi ā n in pinyin, means that good luck will come after suffering disaster, which is mostly used to comfort the suffering people. It comes from selected works: Zhen Chen (a song to Liu Kun).
The origin of Idioms
"Misfortune is the beginning of happiness, and misfortune is the stage of happiness" in Xiao Tong's selected works zhenchen (a gift to Liu Kun) Li Shan quoted Yueji as saying: "misfortune is the first blessing, and happiness is the hall of misfortune.
